You may be asked to round decimals to the nearest integer, or to one decimal place. The rounding method shown in the integer section is also useful with decimals.

For example, 7.25 is between the integers 7 and 8, but nearer to 7.

So 7.25 rounded to the nearest integer is 7.

2.47 is between the decimals 2.4 and 2.5, but nearer to 2.5.

So 2.47 rounded to one decimal place is 2.5.

If you are asked to round a number that is exactly half way between round numbers, the convention is to round up. For example 1.5 is exactly half way between 1 and 2.

So, 1.5 rounded to the nearest integer is conventionally 2.
