Calculator

The calculations needed to answer these questions are simple, but you also need to understand what the question is asking.

If you are asked for the total of two numbers, that means you need to add them up:

What is the total of 25 and 63?

25 + 63 = 88

The total of 25 and 63 is 88.

If you are asked how much more one amount is than another, you can find out by subtracting the smaller amount from the larger amount:

How much more is £45 than £30?

45 - 30 = 15

£45 is £15 more than £30.

Always double check your working out when you are using a calculator!
