These questions involve adding up the total cost of several items from a menu:

A good way to do this is to write down each item one at a time, with the price next to it. Then add up all the prices you have written down.
A question might be
What is the total cost for 3 cups of coffee, 2 muffins and a bagel?
You could write down the items like this:
coffee £3
coffee £3
coffee £3
muffin £2
muffin £2
bagel £4
Then add up the total cost:
£3 + £3 + £3 + £2 + £2 + £4 = £17
